Who are we?
We are a constituted, non-profit making voluntary community group and a registered charity, formed by the parents of James MacFarlane and Haysholm special needs schools.
Our children and young people are very special and have to face such adversity just to cope with daily life and all the things we take for granted. This is why we feel very strongly about raising funds to ensure the provision of opportunities which will improve the quality, value and enhancement of the lives of our children and young people.
Our Vision
To provide a holiday club for the children of James MacFarlane and Haysholm special needs schools to reduce their isolation, improve their quality of life and to support them to be able to take part in activities other children take for granted. We want our children to have the same chances and opportunities as other children.
To provide much needed respite for the families/carers who have the challenging task of caring for the children and young people.
Our Aims
The holiday club aims to;
- Provide children and young people with a range of fun and educational indoor activities to help develop their physical, social and emotional skills, e.g. Cooking, music, arts and crafts, sport, drama, sensory, swimming etc.
- Provide children and young people with the opportunity to get out and about in the community and support them to make use of local amenities e.g. going to the beach, horse riding, cinema, country parks, outdoor activities, leisure centres, soft play etc.
- Offer opportunities for children and young people to socialise with theirs peers so reducing their isolation and developing their social skills.
- Provide an appropriate level of adult supervision to ensure there are no barriers to children and young people participating in activities and that their personal care needs are met.
- Provide a fun, safe and nurturing environment at all times.
- Provide stimulation and encouragement through a range of activities and positive engagement.
Provide much needed respite to families/carers allowing them to have the ability and chance to go about normal day to day life knowing that their child is in safe hands having a great time.
