WE DID IT !!!
A total of 27 children and young people attended the summer 2011 club. The children and young people all had a fantastic time and there was a wide variety of activities provided such as Linn Park, Dean Castle, Fun House Greenock, Ayr Beach Park, Ten Pin Bowling, Ferry to Millport, local parks eg, Eglinton and Ardeer , horse riding and a day at Heads of Ayr Farm Park.
Photo diaries were sent home to parents/carers and parent & staff evaluations forms were sent out…. a big thank you to all who completed them. These showed that all the children benefitted from attending the holiday club and the parents/carers & siblings also benefitted from the respite provided.
We provided employment to over 16 people and had three volunteers who benefitted from the work experience and in turn generated additional income to the local community & economy.
The total cost of summer 2011 holiday club was £16,291.20 though we are still waiting on the invoice coming from North Ayrshire Council for school summer let, which is £1312 and will take the total cost to £17,603.20.
LOOKING FORWARD ....
We are aiming to extend the holiday club for 2012 to 6 weeks and go back to the children getting 3 days one week and 2 days the following week alternately. We also aim to provide transport to and from the venue.
This however, is dependant on funding and indicative budgets show that we need approx £65-70,000 to achieve this. We currently have approximately £17,500 of this funding accounted for and we are looking to raise £50,000 for summer 2012.
The committee are also looking at different service providers eg, Aberlour (current South Ayrshire providers) Quarriers, Enable etc to ensure we have the best people possible running the holiday club for our children.
Parent evaluations were sent out, 67.86% were returned. 100% of parents thought their child benefited from attending the summer holiday club.
